10 Truths About Your Identity in Christ.

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

The world will tell you a million things about yourself.

Many of which are not true.

But gosh, it’s hard to remember sometimes.

Even friends and family may speak into you things that don’t actually align with what God says about you.

This is why it’s SO important that we are constantly planting the Lord’s truth in our hearts.

That day after day we are running to His words, not the world’s.

A great way to do this is to write down identity verses and memorize them.

These aren’t just nice sayings, they are biblical truths about who you are in Jesus.

I wanted to share 10 verses that I love. I read these and remind myself of these, especially when I am feeling frustrated, disconnected or anxious.

God’s Word is living and active, and it will change you the more you live in it.

Here are 10 of my favorites.

(But by all means, go look in the Word for your own to write down, too!)

I am a partaker of the heavenly calling.

“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.” Hebrews 3:1

I will never be shaken.

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2

I am bold as a lion.

“The wicked flee when no one purses, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1

No weapon formed against me will stand.

“No weapons forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.” Isaiah 54: 17

God always leads me to triumph.

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” 2 Corinthians 2:14

I cannot be separated from the love of God

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angles nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Romans 8:38

I am chosen by God.

“Just as He chose us in Him before the founding of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.” Ephesians 1:4-5

I am salt of the earth and the light of the world.

“You are the salt of the earth.”….”You are the light of the world.” (See Matthew 5: 13-16)

I am God’s workmanship, and I’m created for good works.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Friends, I pray these truths sink deeply into your soul. Keep reminding yourself of what is already true about you.

Your identity in Jesus is your only real identity.
