I know there is someone out there who has been hurting for years. Maybe even decades.
They’ve been told that time will heal, and in some ways maybe it has.
Maybe they don’t feel all consumed by pain like they once did. Maybe they can smile and laugh more often. Maybe they can enjoy life now.
But that doesn’t mean the pain is gone.
Because truly, there are some things time doesn’t heal.
There are losses in this life that will never feel “okay”.
Do I think God can work in even the worst of situations? Yes.
Do I think joy is found in God and not in our circumstances? Yes.
Do I think there is some grief that can stay in our lives until we get to heaven? Also yes.
And so to the person who has the wound that time isn’t healing..
I’m not going to tell you you’ll get over it soon.
But I do know that even with the pain, you are not alone in it. God has not abandoned you. In fact, He feels that same pain WITH you every single day.
He is a God of true empathy. A God of compassion.
I also know that there will come a day when you are completely healed when you return home to Jesus, and there is hope in that.
But today, I want you to know that it’s okay if time hasn’t healed everything.
Some losses are so hard that we just learn to live with the ache in our soul.
It doesn’t mean we can’t still find beauty and purpose in this life. It doesn’t even mean we can’t be happy.
It just means we carry grief with us. Grief because what we lost.. we truly loved.
So no, time doesn’t heal everything.
It’s okay if you aren’t over it.
There will come a day, friend.
But for today, you are being held. The pit in your stomach is felt. The tears you cry are caught. Your prayers of grief are heard.
Your pain is kept track of by Jesus.
Time doesn’t heal everything.
But there is no pain you walk through alone.
