Dear Husband: I Don’t Need You, but I’m so Grateful to Have You.

I don’t need you to open doors for me or do the heavy lifting, I’m actually pretty strong.

But the fact that you want to do that for me makes me feel cared for.

I don’t need you to tell me I’m pretty or that I’m a good person. My worth doesn’t come from what you think of me.

But it still feels nice to hear it from your mouth.

I don’t need you to fill my gas tank or fix something, I can do that all on my own.

But the fact that you think to do that stuff, so that I don’t have to, is so thoughtful.

I don’t need you to be there for me when I’m having a meltdown. I would get over it by myself, just as I had before you came into my life.

But when you wrap your arms around me and pray over me, I feel so comforted.

I don’t need your love letters and kind gestures. But they do make me feel special.

I don’t need you to take care of me. I could do life on my own.

But honestly, it’s such a blessing to have such a solid man that I can always rely on, who will always pick me up.

I’m not completed by you.

But gosh, I’m so grateful to have you.

I could survive without you, but I would never ever want to.

You are the kindest gift the Lord has ever given me.

Thank you for all that you do.

Thanks for being the man that I don’t need, but the man I’m so incredibly blessed to have.
