Why is it that when we see someone else succeed, we feel like a failure?
Or when someone gets something we want, we feel as though we are lacking?
Why does someone else’s achievements or blessing dictate how little or much we feel like we have?
Because it’s so easy for us to live in a scarcity mindset.
We get trapped on the lie that there isn’t enough to go around.
That the “good things” in life will run out.
We see the fruit in someone else’s life and we feel like there isn’t any left for us.
They got it. I guess we are just left empty handed.. or with the “lesser” things.
It can feel like there just isn’t room for us because they have the space we want.
Wow, is this a lie straight from the devil himself.
In John 10:10 Jesus tells us that He came to give us life, and give it abundantly.
Abundantly.
Meaning, He came to give us life in its abounding fullness.
Jesus isn’t saying He came to make everyone rich, make life easy, and give us whatever we want whenever we want.
His abundant life is so, so much greater.
It’s a life of real joy, of peace that is beyond our understanding, of strength that isn’t our own.
His abundant life for us already includes a plan that is specific to us. His plan for us cannot be anyone else’s, so no one can take it from us.
There is no competition. We each matter.
The full life He has for us is not limited.
There is more than enough for every single one of us because God took us all into consideration when He made His plan for eternity.
He does not lack in the goodness, love and gifts He can give.
So friends, we have the choice...
Are we going to keep living in the world the way our culture tells us to (by striving to be on top, to get more “things”, to have worldly success)?
Are we going to keep focusing on what we “lack” from a material or worldly perspective, and giving that all our attention?
Or, are we going to choose the abundant life that Jesus died for so that we could have?
Are we going to fix our eyes on Him and His calling for us?
The option is ours.
I hope you’ll choose abundant life.
Choose the best way.
Jesus can’t wait to show you what He has planned. Even if it’s different than what you hoped, it is absolutely better.
Even if life feels so incredibly hard right now, you still have access to this. He is bigger than our circumstances, He can meet us in our darkest places and He can heal the wounds that have been keeping us suffering.
It’s with Jesus we can step into the best life we could possibly live. No one else can do that for us. No worldly thing could ever satisfy our soul in this way.
Abundant life is a life of knowing, loving, and walking with your Savior.
And there is absolutely nothing better.
