Raise your hand if you are feeling exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed or downright fearful?
(We all raise our hands)
Life is hard sometimes. There is no way around it.
But as of lately, I get the sense that so many of us feel like we are drowning.
It’s like wave after wave of fear, loss and confusion are hitting.
It’s hard to even breathe when we can’t keep your head above water.
When I see how so many of us are trying to carry the world on our shoulders…
When I see how so many of us are constantly trying to get air when we are being beat down…
I wonder if we are missing something?
God, is this really how it’s supposed to be?
Are we supposed to be fighting this hard?
As I asked this, I felt like God whispered to me, “if the battle is too big for you to handle, it’s not your battle to fight.”
I felt like He opened my mind, and He reminded me how all throughout the Bible God constantly fights the battles on behalf of His people.
He virtually says, “I got this. You don’t even need to fight, just show up.”
(My words, not His).
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent -Exodus 14:14
For the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory. -Deuteronomy 20:4
Wow, what a different approach to take, isn’t it?
Instead of white knuckling each and every single circumstance in our life, what if we really just allowed the Lord to fight on our behalf?
I’m not saying we should just sit around doing nothing, waiting for God to do something in our life.
But those things in our life that feel SO big? The things that we have been stressing about and trying to control even though we can’t?
What if we surrendered them, and trusted that God will make a way?
Instead of trying to take on each wave alone, what if we let God stand in front of us, take the waves on for us, and calm them Himself?
We are limited in our capacity, friends.
There are some things that are simply too much for us to battle.
God knows that.
They are not too much for Him.
I know how hard it is to give up control, and to swallow our pride enough to say, I simply cannot do this on my own.
But this is exactly where God steps in and says, “my child, I can.”
Don’t miss the opportunity to see the power of the Father in action.
Don’t miss your chance to learn true dependence on Him.
He doesn’t get scared of a battle.
The waves don’t knock Him down.
He made us to need Him, so need Him. It’s okay.
He will see you though this.
“He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed” Psalm 107:29
